As you probably know, Collage is my signature medium of expression. I love working with images using my intuition and imagination for visual storytelling. I am also deeply fascinated by the way in which the subconscious mind “speaks” through pictures. I also believe that the creative process promotes self-discovery and healing in our lives.
While working on my Oracle Card Deck, I connected with a fellow woman artist from New York who introduced me to SoulCollage® where you also create a deck of cards – however, this is a very different process.
So what is SoulCollage®?
SoulCollage® is a copyrighted creative collage process in which you create a deck of cards with deep personal meaning. Each card reflects a different aspect of yourself. They also connect you to Archetypes and Spirit Animals that speak through you. The cards are made from simple materials: all you need are some magazine images or photographs, scissors, glue, and a mat board.

Once a card is created, your images will “speak” to reveal their gifts and wisdom through journaling, visualization and other activities. Each SoulCollage® card becomes a portal to your story and to your innate knowing. It’s like a Tarot only that the message come straight from your own soul.
After getting the book and familiarizing myself with the process, I instantly recognized the transformative potential of working with this powerful technique in my own personal healing journey.
As I started to make my first cards I was surprised how different the images were from the ones in my artwork. It feels like the they are emerging from within me in a strangely mysterious way that I have not experienced before. Eventhough I create my art work in a similar intuitive way – the images choosing me rather than me choosing them – the look and feel of the SoulCollage® cards is quite different. It feels like looking into a mirror and seeing the reflection of deeper, very complex parts of myself which usually remain hidden. I am excited about learning how to work with my cards and access their essence.

In 2019 I am planning to work with aspects of the SoulCollage® method in a new series of workshops. In the meantime I will continue to create my own cards and practice using them to access inner guidance and wisdom from my soul.
